#DjStychLive || #News || Korean ambassador blasts Ghanaian officials over lateness
The Ghanaian attitude to time and late attendance to programmes of national importance received a backlash from the Korean Ambassador and a team of Korean engineers at a workshop in Accra yesterday.
Lyeo Woon-Ki, the Ambassador, criticised the conduct of the officials of the Ministry of Transport after waiting for almost one hour at a workshop to solicit the inputs of stakeholders for a Master Plan project for Accra, in which the Korean government had provided a $1.5 million funding with technical expertise.
The project seeks to address the traffic congestion in the Greater Accra Metropolitan Area by 2035.
The Minister of Transport was expected to attend, but he sent a representative who arrived 43 minutes late.
Mr. Woon-Ki said “Ghanaians should learn to respect time, because it is a valuable and precious resource”.
Hyeokjo Kweon, General Manager of Hanmac Engineering, the consultancy firm that is providing technical expertise for the Master Plan, also expressed his frustration.
“This is your time. Your government is wasting available time just like this. In Korea, if we schedule a programme to start at 9a.m, it starts at the same time,” he stated.
Mr. Kweon later took The Ghanaian Times to the VIP waiting room where the Korean Ambassador and the representative of the EximBank of China waited for their Ghanaian counterparts to arrive.
The programme was scheduled to begin at 9am and the Korean delegation had to wait until after 43 minutes when Mr. A. Selby and Mr. Lawrence Kumi, Chief Director and Director in charge of Research and Statistics respectively, of the Ministry of Transport, arrived, offering an apology for their lateness.

Dancehall artiste, Samini has revealed that his first pay cheque in his music career was GHC5.00.
In an interview with Hitz FM, Samini says the pay cheque gave him the chance to afford a bottle of beer for the first time.
Talking about his success in the music career, Samini says he has realized how successful he was becoming in the music career after seeing himself in Mary Agyapong’s ‘Twe ben me’ music video.
Samini is revered to have won several awards including best African Act at the 2006 MOBO awards, best performer at 2009 MTV Africa music video awards, Headies best African act 2010, Most gifted reggae dancehall video artist at 2011 Channel O Music Video Awards and Album of the Year at 2011 Ghana Music Awards.

He is also up for 9 nominations that night: ‘DJ of the Year,’ ‘Best Hip-Hop Video,’ ‘MVP of the Year,’ ‘Track of the Year,’ ‘Album of the Year,’ ‘Hustler of the Year,’ ‘People’s Champ Award’ and two nods for ‘Best Collabo, Duo or Group.’
“I am extremely honored to be a part of such an incredible show that has watched me grow as an artist and mogul throughout my career,” Khaled said in a press release. “The Hip Hop Awards are synonymous with a night of stellar performances and tributes to the greatest hip hop artists of our time. I am excited to bring cloth talk and the major keys to the Hip Hop Awards for an iconic and memorable show!”
The 2016 BET Hip-Hop Awards will be filmed in ATL on Saturday, September 17, and then air on the network on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 8pm EST.

Multiple award-winning Ghanaian Reggae/Dancehall genie, Stonebwoy starts September with another big concert in Europe.
He plays Bologna in Italy on Saturday, September 3 at the Barbs Club.
According to initial plans, Stonebwoy was supposed to kick start his #GoHigher European Tour from September 1 to October 1 but plans changed at the final stages due to other pressing engagements.
"We were due to play some big cities in various countries across Europe within the earlier publicized date but some other equally important engagements came up so the Team needed to repackage the Europe Tour for later dates. Our promoters in Italy had already confirmed this venue with a lot of pre-arrangements done and if we don't go and play Italy it would go against a lot of things so quickly, we gotta squeeze this one in and confirm the others later. We are shooting on set with Cynthia Morgan in Nigeria and after that we touch the road again to honour Italy," Stonebwoy's Manager, Blakk Cedi (Sidi Mohammed) explains.
Stonebwoy has already played 2-multiple-stringed concerts in the USA (March 2016) and Australia (August 2016) for the "Go Higher Tour".
Stonebwoy and Fancy Gadam closed the month of August on the 27th with a huge attendance over 16,000 heads inside the Tamale Sports Stadium.

Award award-winning Ghanaian rapper and the CEO of ASB Music label, Stay Jay, has received two new accolades in Holland.
He was honoured with two awards for his prodigious contribution to Ghana music industry on the global market at a ceremony held at Gaasperplas Park, Amsterdam.
Stay Jay received the “Tema Citizens Of Holland Award” which was announced by Mr Alfred Kyei Mensah, the Vice Chairman of RECOGIN and Chairman of Tema Citizens Club Holland, and presented by the father of former Ghana Blackstars winger Quincy Owusu Abeyie, Mr Collins Jamie.
Patrons of Tema Citizens Club Holland and other officials were part of the presentation.
He also received the “Akwaaba Holland Award” from Akwaaba Holland Ster Entertainment. The award was presented to him by Mr Han Blouw and other officials.
Delivering his acceptance speech, the “Sue” hitmaker said “I say a very big thank you to all the organisers, fans and my music lovers for the great honour. God bless you all much love and respect #ASBMusic #JAYNATION.”
Stay Jay received the two awards after a sterling performance at Club DNA in Amsterdam over the weekend.
Stay Jay will be at Prevee at Koln, Germany on Friday, September 2 to give them an equally exciting performance.
He is currently out with a brand new Afrobeats track titled “Gbohe” featuring Luther.

Well, MOBO award-winning artiste, Emmanuel Andrews Samini was on Hitz FM and he was asked whether his fellow Dancehall act, Shatta Wale has eclipsed him because nowadays it’s just Shatta Wale-Shatta Wale and not the other way round.
According to the ‘Opanaraay’ hitmaker, the first team player is still the first team player and that the second team player can step into the shoes of the first team player but they are not the same.
“No, Bandana has not eclipsed me, I can’t agree; it’s like Leicester City saying they are bigger than Manchester United just because they won the premiere league.” He said.
He continued, “I even was the first parsons to put Bandana on my tour in 2004 and I’ve not seen or heard about him from that time till 2013, akyesaa.”
Samini’s annual music festival, SaminiFest will come off in December and it’s the 3rd edition.
